Phoenix inspires her students to learn not only watch their bodies move and take shape, but how their mind reacts to transitions, challenges and successes. Her invitational cueing allows students to craft their own experience in public classes and explore what they’ve brought to the mat on any given day. As a 500-hour registered teacher, she supplemented the foundational training at the Breathing Room with Lily Dougher in South Portland with continued training from Jason Crandell in San Francisco, CA. With an emphasis on anatomy and alignment-based Vinyasa, Phoenix helps all students find expressions and variations that feel best in their own bodies. She has had a longstanding interest in Buddhism and Buddhist meditation techniques from studying in Nepal and India and carefully weaves in the knowledge and wisdom of these ancient practices. In her own practice, she is constantly working to find balance of sthira and sukham – effort and ease.
